Germany

Frequently militaristic country in west-central Europe. Was part of the Holy Roman Empire; wasn t unified as one nation until 1871. Split into West (the Federal Republic of) and East (German Democratic Republic) from 1949 to 1990. But it did invent Oktoberfest and brats, so we can let some stuff slide.
