The Planet of the Apes
Decreasingly successful film franchise from the 1970s depicting a future in which apes rule the earth after we hopelessly botch things. One day the fuzzy monkey critters will rule and we ll be kept in cages. Strangely this will coincide with much of the Earth becoming a desert wasteland.
