The Whales of August
Based on the David Berry play, the story of two elderly sisters--one caring, the other cantankerous, blind, and possibly senile--who decide during a summer in Maine whether or not they should give up their ancestral house and enter a nursing home. Gish and Davis are exquisite to watch, and the all-star supporting cast is superb--especially Price as a suave Russian. Lovingly directed by Anderson in his first US outing.
