The Thin Man

Married sleuths Nick (Powell) and Nora (Loy) Charles investigate the mysterious disappearance of a wealthy inventor. Charming and sophisticated, this was the model for all husband-and-wife detective teams that followed. Don't miss Asta, their wire-hair terrier. Based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett. Its enormous popularity triggered five sequels, starting with "After the Thin Man."

Oh to be Nick and Nora!

A fun movie from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Nick and Nora are a believable married couple who squabble, but there is not doubt of their affection for each other. And they are rarely without a drink in their hand -- even getting up in the middle of the night to fix a cocktail!
