Five college students, vacationing in the Tennessee mountains, take refuge in an abandoned cabin. They find a tape and a Book of the Dead, which unwittingly lets them resurrect demons, which transform the students into evil monsters until only Ash (Campbell) remains to fight the evil. Exuberantly gory low-budgeter followed by two sequels.
