For Colored Girls

Perry's divisive narrative version of Ntozake Shange's Obie Award-winning 1975 play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf." Each woman represents a character in a collection of poems depicting black women in society. Perry connects them through the same Harlem apartment building as they suffer through various emotional and physical abuses as well as understanding and empowerment.
