Sparkling, warm-hearted feminist comedy from Ozon, set in pastel and polyester 1977, with eye-catching performances from Deneuve and Depardieu. The French title translates to "trophy wife," which is what Suzanne Pujol (Deneuve) has always been in her marriage to her unfaithful, arrogant schmuck husband Robert (Luchini), who thinks she's only a brainless beauty. She proves him wrong when the workers at the family umbrella factory go on strike and it's up to Suzanne to become management's negotiator. She also calls on her communist union leader ex-beau Maurice Babin (Depardieu) for help and it's clear he still harbors romantic feelings--and why not? Based on the 1980 play by Pierre Barillet and Jean-Pierre Gredy. French with subtitles.
