It's Shakespeare with garden gnomes in this animated Disney take on "Romeo & Juliet" (with a happier ending we hope). Romance blooms between gnomes Gnomeo and Juliet but they are soon caught up in a feud between neighbors. Popular young British actors McAvoy and Blunt voice the two lead characters, but that doesn't stop the movie from being a one-note, predictable concept despite the nine credited writers and fine supporting cast (including Stewart as the Bard himself). Still, the animation is decent, and the story may charm younger viewers, while the adults will find the 84-minute run time excessive. Classic and original songs by Elton John, who also served as executive producer.
