Originally shown as a two-part Canadian TV movie based on Mordecai Richter's 1971 novel. Jake grows up in the isolated Jewish Montreal community of St. Urbain with the dream of becoming a filmmaker. Maintaining the idealized memory of his heroic, adventurous cousin Joey, Jake moves to London and become a modestly successful director until a scandal threatens to derail both his career and personal lives.
