Riverworld

Two-part miniseries from the SyFy channel that's a loose adaptation of the sci fi novels by Philip Jose Farmer. American journalist Matt Elman and his fiancee Jessie are killed in a suicide bombing. Matt awakens on a riverbank on an alien planet in some kind of afterlife. There are two rival bands of blue-skinned aliens, resurrected Earthlings in a good vs. evil battle, and a long river that bisects the planet that Matt must travel while he tries to reunite with Jessie.
