Usual unreliable showbiz bio about the ill-fated 1920s actress. Jeanne (Novak) starts off as a hootchie-coochie dancer for carnival owner Sal Satori (Chandler). She's desperate to become a star and heads to Broadway where Jeanne takes acting lessons and then gets her chance by ruthlessly betraying another actress. Lover Sal is jealous of her success and won't help her when the booze and drugs take over.
