Navy Blues
Haines successfully transitioned into sound with his first talkie but he played a familiar caddish role in this more drama-than-comedy tearjerker. Bad boy sailor Jack Kelly (Haines) gets shore leave and promptly romances Alice Brown (Page) whose family is extremely opposed to her seeing Jack. She leaves with him but gets dumped when Jack says he's not the marrying kind. When he finally comes to his senses he finds Alice's life has taken an unfortunate turn.
