All too familiar and uninspired romantic comedy about two men--business executive George (Rudd) and major league baseball player/philanderer Matty (Wilson)--who vie for the love of a recently retired softball player Lisa (Witherspoon). Meanwhile, George contends with accusations of shady dealings and is hounded by his father (Nicholson) and the government. Although cast with bankable and likeable leads, the story is at times as stale as a day-old hot dog and the business scandal though appealing feels out of place. Director Brooks' effort might not entirely strike out but can't quite reach base either.
