Country Strong

Beautifully shot and well-acted backstage melodrama about talented but volatile superstar country singer Kelly Canter (Paltrow) who, following a too-brief stay in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, is pushed to tour by her husband and manager James (McGraw). The two are joined on the road by Chiles (Meester), a pageant queen turned singer and the handsome Beau (Hedlund), recruited from the rehab center. The romantic tensions, conflicts and relapses are as predictable as they are cliche, but Paltrow manages to steal the show with her surprisingly good singing.
