Uncompromising drama surrounding the 2010 recession through the eyes of three successful corporate executives facing unemployment for the first time in their prosperous lives. Bobby (Affleck) re-evaluates his and wife Maggie's (DeWitt) lavish lifestyle and considers changing direction by laying drywall with his selfless brother-in-law (Costner). Meanwhile Gene (Jones) and Phil (Cooper) watch as their families and communities crumble and adapt to the corporate downsizing. Heartfelt and aiming to stay compassionate, director Wells ultimately puts too much attention on the number-crunching reality rather than the human element. Still, the fabulous cast makes this modern-day crisis tale respectable.
