Gets an extra half-bone for Stanwyck's performance because the plot doesn't merit much. Joan (Stanwyck) accompanies her writer husband David (Preston) to Las Vegas and, while he's working, she starts gambling. She loses big, lies, steals, and generally ruins her life until she's suicidal and her estranged hubby comes to her rescue. The psychology given for Joan's destructive behavior is laughable today but probably reasonable enough at the time when less was known about addiction and treatment.
