The relationship between artist Georgia O'Keefe (Allen) and 23-years-older photographer Alfred Stieglitz (Irons) begins with an adulterous affair in New York. Despite their marriage in 1924, O'Keefe lived the equality revolution that others merely preached though she was heartbroken and driven to a nervous breakdown when her fame increased a needy Stieglitz's insecurities and infidelities. This didn't stop O'Keefe's travels to the southwest nor her decision to live and work (minus her husband) part of the year in her beloved New Mexico. Irons gets stuck with a rather one-note characterization and the Lifetime drama does indeed belong to Allen's provocative title character.
