The Lark Farm
Sprawling drama about the 1915-17 Armenian genocide that surprisingly gets away from the usually deft writer/director Taviani brothers. The wealthy Armenian Avakian family ignores the nasty rhetoric coming from Istanbul's Turkish government and heads to their country estate. When a Turkish military detachment arrives, there are shocking acts of violence, a march across the Syrian desert, and some rather unconvincing survival situations. Italian with subtitles.
