My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done

Oddball David Lynch serves as executive producer and presenter of weirdo Herzog's bizarre crime drama that's inspired by a true story. San Diego homicide detective Hank Havenhurst (Dafoe) has a slam-dunk case with the murder of Mrs. McCullum (Zabriskie) since her son Brad (Shannon) did the crime and there are witnesses. However, crazy Brad (he started hearing voices during a trip to Peru) has locked himself in at home with a couple of hostages. It's probably not intended to make much sense (ostriches, flamingos, and a little person are also involved) but it's a little too surreal for enjoyment unless you're a Herzog fan.
