In this contemporary sunlit film noir, high school janitor Don (Church) goes back to his hometown after hearing from ex-girlfriend Sonny (Shue) who says she wants to see him before she dies. She turn out to be a lying, wannabe femme fatale who wears lots of negligees. There's also more scheming, money is involved, and there's eventually a corpse. It's both deadpan and over-the-top but Church seems too smart to play such a taken-for-a-ride schlub.
