Absurdist nonlinear crime comedy. Staten Island mobster Parmie (D'Onofrio) survives a hit and takes refuge in a treehouse in a wildlife area that's part of a protest against a developer. Dim bulb Sully (Hawke) needs money for an experimental in-vitro operation for his unborn son and robs the house of Parmie's mother (big mistake). Deaf-mute deli owner Jasper (Cassel) has Sully and Parmie for customers but, in Parmie's case, Jasper provides a body disposal service as well. Hawke's character is the least interesting, D'Onofrio's mother-loving mobster is beyond odd, and Cassell steals the movie.
