Blood and Orchids
Miniseries covers racism and lies in 1937 Hawaii. Hester (Stowe), the wife of naval officer Lloyd Murdoch (Russ), is beaten and raped by her lover (Salinger). She's found by four young Hawaiian men who take her to the hospital but flee, fearing they'll be accused of the crime. Hester's autocratic, plantation-owning mother (Alexander) insists Hester lie and the four are, indeed, arrested and put on trial. However, police captain Maddox (Kristofferson) thinks something stinks. Based on a true story; Katkov scripted from his novel.
