Convoluted, melodramatic silent. 1840s California is a land of Spanish grandees, ranchos, and missions until the 1848 Gold Rush brings gringo prospectors flooding in. Dermot D'Arcy (Keene) wins the Guerrero rancho in a horse race and then tries to win the hand of Josephita (Adoree), the daughter of its former owner. She objects and Dermot nobly gives her back the deed to return to the gold fields but they'll meet again when her brother is falsely accused of gold robbery.
