Silent melodrama. In 1840, New Englander Anson Campbell (Hanson) is torn between his love of the sea and studying for the ministry. When he takes pity on fallen woman Bess Morgan (Starke), he's condemned by everyone he knows and so Anson signs on to work aboard a sailing ship. It turns out to be a convict ship with Bess, who's vowed to reform, also on board and fighting off the advances of the lecherous Captain (Torrence). There's tragedy and repentance and redemption (check out that title).
