This numbing, awkward fantasy won't break Shyamalan's dismal movie streak, and it's a strong disservice to the popular Nickelodeon anime series. The harmony of the Air Nomads, Water Tribes, and Earth Kingdoms is torn apart when the Fire Nation launches a 100 years war. Twelve-year-old Aang (newcomer Ringer) discovers he's the last of the avatars who can manipulate all four elements once he's had the proper training. The last minute conversion to 3D is negligible as the action is disappointing and the casting is flat.
