Mammoth

First English-language film from Moodysson is a repetitive narrative about three sets of working parents that takes place in the United States, the Philippines, and Thailand. Naturally the Americans, Ellen (Williams) and Leo (Garcia Bernal), are wealthy and shallow (yawn) absentee parents whose daughter is cared for by their live-in Filipino nanny, Gloria (Necesito). Gloria's own young sons (who live in Manila) lay a guilt trip on mom for being away. Then, when Leo travels to Thailand for business, he meets bargirl Cookie (Srinikornchot), who's another working mom using the sex industry to support her own baby. Title refers to a very expensive pen made from woolly mammoth ivory.
