Broadway chorine Dixie Dugan (White) is performing in a New York nightclub when shifty Hollywood director Frank Buelow (Miljan) offers her a movie contract. Dixie gets the leading role but then turns diva, which ruins the comeback efforts of fading silent star Donna Harris (Sweet). A desperate act by Donna causes Dixie to question the tawdry tinsel behind the glamour. White also played the same role in 1928's "Show Girl."
