Sally
Cinderella story finds orphaned Sally (Miller) working as a New York waitress although her dream is to dance on Broadway. Sally meets booking agent Otis Hooper (Barnes), who has her impersonate a famous Russian dancer who eloped, and this leads to Sally getting her own starring gig in the Ziegfeld Follies. The tiny Miller had a lot of natural charisma although the merits of her singing and dancing are still debated; she only made three talkies, preferring her stage career. Includes sequences in two-strip Technicolor. Based on the 1920 musical by Jerome Kern and Guy Bolton in which Miller also starred.
