Mean-spirited satire about consumerism. A fake family is commissioned by a marketing company to move into an upscale suburban neighborhood and extol new luxury goods to the envious neighbors in an effort to make them popular. Steve's (Duchovny) the newbie salesman with something of a conscience, Kate's (Moore) his gung-ho boss/fake wife, and they're the 'parents' of teenagers (who aren't)--nympho Jenn (Heard) and closeted Mick (Hollingsworth). But "keeping up with the Joneses" proves problematic for both the Joneses and their neighbors.
