Cranky, unmotivated ex-rocker-turned-carpenter Roger Greenberg (Stiller), newly released from a mental hospital, uproots from New York to housesit for his brother in Los Angeles. While there, his abrasive personality begins to win over his brother's personal assistant, Florence (Gerwig), who's been assigned to look out for him. Dry, subtle but uneven, coming-of-middle-age comedy that often fumbles, accurately expressing the pain and humor of its characters' lives.
