Billion Dollar Brain

The third of five films based on the Harry Palmer spy novels by Len Deighton, this one has Michael Caine repeating his performance as British agent Harry Palmer, now a down-on-his-luck private investigator. Forced back into the espionage game, he is sent to deliver a package to an old friend, only to find him now working for a rabid right-wing Texas oil billionaire who has made a super computer running a spy ring dedicated to perpetuating the cold war and destroying the Soviet Union. Confusing and full of triple crosses, it is fairly close to the source material.
