American Venus
Celia Lane (De Mornay) is the ultimate in crazy, controlling mothers. When her ice skating daughter Jenna (McGregor) chokes during a national-level competition, Jenna decides she's had enough and quits for good--much to coach/mom Celia's fury. So Jenna sneaks out of Spokane to live the college life in Vancouver, British Columbia--until Celia tracks her down. Celia's also the ultimate in ugly Americans in a foreign country and the viewer is never quite sure if Sweeney is aiming for satire or not.
