Told in flashbacks. Biff Grimes (Cooper) and Hugo Barnstead (Hamilton) are romantic rivals for selfish beauty Virginia Brush (Wray) while sweet Amy Lind (Fuller) pines for Biff to notice her. When Virginia and Hugo elope, Biff impulsively marries Amy. The rivalry takes a turn and one of the men goes to jail. Remade in 1941 as "The Strawberry Blonde" and again in 1948 under the original title.
