Bored society heiress Joan Bradford (Hutchinson in her screen debut) likes it when she gets a kiss from window washer Bob Lane (Powell) on New Year's Eve, so she pretends to be working-class so they can date. Bob needs money to start his own business and Joan arranges for her father to secretly back Bob's plans but there's trouble when Bob learns who Joan really is.
