Death at a Funeral

A nearly scene-by-scene American remake of the 2007 British comedy does a good job translating the original's absurd, screwball high-jinx for an American audience--though that doesn't translate into funny. The deceased's son, Aaron (Rock), tries to keep his head straight while holding the funeral for his father at home. The cadaver has as many misadventures as the oddball guests (a misused wide array of well-known and talented actors). Shocking family secrets are eventually exposed, leading to blackmail and a missing corpse.
