Two awkwardly paired cops (Willis and Morgan) track down a stolen baseball card, rescue a babe, and deal with gangsters and laundered drug money in this send-up of cop buddy movies that manages to be worse than the movies it is trying to mock. Not entirely without laughs, but the sheer number of failed jokes---most of the poo-poo variety--more than overshadows the successes. Notable for being the first movie Smith directed that he did not also write, there are occasional signs of his unique wit but he shows little skill at working with someone else's material.
In this action/comedy two cops' (Wills And Morgan) search for a stolen baseball card almost leads them into the clutches of a memorabilia obsessed gangster. A spoof of cliche buddy-cop movies that is, in itself, a cliche buddy-cop movie. The wisecracks come thick and fast, but only about a quarter to them are funny. The first film that Kevin Smith directed without scripting. Hopefully he'll stick with writing his own scripts from now on, or at least start picking better ones.
