Loving but ultimately empty remake of the campy 1981 fantasy-adventure. Perseus (Worthington) must embrace his own destiny as the son of an Olympic god (though he was raised as a man) when vengeful Hades (Fiennes) tries usurping Zeus'(paycheck-cashing Neeson) power to unleash hell on earth. Movie retains the basic storyline of the original, but none of its charm, exchanging distinctive stop-motion special effects for bland, often indecipherable CGI action. The only thing left is the hammy performances, and even those seem like a chore.

Sam Worthington is about as "wooden" as Harry Hamlin was. And the story is basically the same (though there was more romance in the original, and Pegasus had more magic). But the effects in this version (while decent) aren't as interesting as the original Harryhausen creatures from 1981.

Another Greek story, now of the hero Perseus, who will be fighting many dangerous and deadly creatures releases by hell. A film too worthy of watchers.
