The Blind Side

Although based on the true story of NFL football player Michael Oher (Aaron), this feel-good sports tale is dominated by Bullock's portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. She is the sassy Memphis belle in charge of the family that takes the disadvantaged young Michael off of the streets. She charms and wisecracks her way past her amiable husband (McGraw), her snooty friends and every other obstacle in her crusade to help Michael fulfill his potential. The not-so-subtle story is heartwarming, but a bit over the top. Based on the book by Michael Lewis.

There have been dozens of films that ignored the reason ...Read More

Bullock is good, movie is okay

Based on a true story, this movie is at times heavy-handed in its approach to the story. Yet Sandra Bullock brings a warmth and conviction to her (now Oscar-winning) role. Worth renting, perhaps not owning.
