Palestinian divorced mom Muna (Faour), who lives on the West Bank, decides she and her 16-year-old son Fadi (Muallem) will have a better life joining her married sister Raghda (Abbass) in suburban Chicago. However, the U.S. has just invaded Iraq so all Arabs are under suspicion and Muna and her family face a number of indignities. Despite her professional background, the only job Muna can find is working at White Castle (a fact she keeps from her family) while Fadi tries to make his way through the hazards of high school. The cast is excellent with Faour expressing a particularly warm, bright, and strong presence. English and Arabic with subtitles.
