The Phantom of Paris

Bibi (Gilbert), a world-class French escape artist, attempts to escape a false murder charge trumped up by an evil marquis (Keith) who has murdered the wealthy father of Bibi's fiancee (Hyams) in a plot to lay claim to her and her father's wealth. Bibi uses his talent for escape to elude the law while he attempts to clear his name. Featuring one of John Gilbert's first talking roles after a successful career in silent film.
