In 1895, successful Hank Armstrong (Simpson) owns the town's livery stable and is also a prizewinning race horse owner. His son Bob (Mack) is enamored of the new horseless carriage, which appalls Hank. Over the years, the automobile takes over, Hank's business goes bust, and he is forced to sell his beloved horses. Becoming bitter, Hank sabotages an automobile, not realizing that Bob will be driving it in an exhibition race. Ironically, Mack was killed in a car accident during filming and he is notably absent in later scenes.
