When a Man Loves
Adaptation of the novel "Manon Lescault" by Abbe Prevost. Chevalier Fabien des Grieux (Barrymore) rescues Manon (Costello) after her brother offers her to the Comte de Morfontaine (de Grasse) but she eventually returns to him because Manon likes what Morfontaine's wealth brings. When des Grieux reenters her life, he tries cheating at cards as a way to support them but that only gets Manon imprisoned on a convict ship.
