Overstuffed epic traces the lives of a French family from the Paris student rebellions of 1968 to the gay rights movement in the late 1980s. Twenty-year-olds Catherine, Yves, and Herve are all involved in leftist student groups, although they eventually leave the city for a rural commune. Friendships fray and Herve tires of the pastoral life while Catherine and Yves stay to raise their two children, Boris and Ludmilla. French with subtitles.
