Williams is the nameless London working-class mother of a young son whose marriage to a bomb disposal expert is in trouble. So she starts up with charming if slightly sleazy journalist Jasper (McGregor) and while they are canoodling one afternoon, terrorists set off a bomb in a soccer stadium and her husband and son are killed. Her husband's friend Terrence (Macfadyen) is taking part in the investigation, and takes a very personal interest in the new widow, who manages to learn that one of the bomber's wives, the mother of a young son, works nearby. Story doesn't hold together particularly well and some of the narration is risible but Williams is watchable no matter what.
