Tugboat Annie

A colossal MGM hit for the very popular Dressler, with Beery as her drunken husband Terry. Son Alec (Young) is the captain of an ocean liner who's in love with Patricia (O'Sullivan), the daughter of liner owner Red Severn (Robertson). Alec wants his mom to leave his dad and come work with him but the loyal Annie refuses, even after Terry crashes the tugboat. Sold at auction and turned into a garbage scow, Annie continues to run the vessel and one stormy night, the ocean liner sends out an SOS and it's the little-scow-that-could to the rescue! Based on a series of Norman Reilly Raine stories published in the "Saturday Evening Post."
