Often in financial difficulty, actor Raft sold his life story, which became a fairly typical Hollywood bio. Raft (Danton) starts off as a dancer in a Hell's Kitchen joint but gets on the wrong side of mobster Frank Donatella (de Santis). So he departs for Hollywood and gets his (typecasting) break in "Scarface." Unable to resist the company of wiseguys, Raft's career eventually fades and he then gets involved in a Havana casino operation that ends with the Castro revolution. The film ends when Raft gets a role (parodying his tough guy image) in "Some Like It Hot."
