The Defector
Cold War spy thriller with a fragile Clift starring in his last role as American scientist James Bower. While visiting East Germany, Bower is contacted by CIA agent Adam (McDowell) to help a defecting Russian scientist smuggle out some microfilm. The plan is discovered by Russian agent Heinzman (Kruger) who then tries to get Bower to defect to the East.
