The Beast of the City
Crime melodrama that ends in a violent machine-gun rubout, making you wonder just who the good guys are. Chicago police captain Jim Fitzpatrick (Huston) is obsessed with cleaning up the city but crime boss Belmonte (Hersholt) gets off because he has city and police officials on his payroll. When Jim becomes a hero foiling a bank robbery, public opinion demands he be appointed the new police commissioner and his first order is to get Belmonte by any means necessary. Harlow plays gun moll Daisy.
