Frank Logan (Keaton) is a gentlemanly Chicago hitman who is apparently depressed by his job since he tries to commit suicide after his latest killing. Kate (Macdonald, a particularly lovely presence) spots Frank as he is about to jump, screams, and inadvertently saves his life. But Frank also realizes she may be able to identify him so he has to make her acquaintance. Since Kate is a fellow bruised and lonely soul (having fled an abusive marriage) the two seem made for each other as long as Frank doesn't decide to kill her. Keaton, in his directorial debut, refrains from most cliches.
