Hausfrau Trudi (Elsner) is fascinated by Japan and wants her overbearing husband Rudi (Wepper) to agree to visit their son who has a job in Tokyo. Instead, Rudi insists they see their other children who live nearby in Berlin. Trudi dies suddenly and the aimless widower decides to honor his wife by finally visiting Japan, where he meets a teenage Butoh dancer in Tokyo and makes a pilgrimage to Mount Fuji. Unhurried drama about loss and acceptance. German and Japanese with subtitles.
